Organ transplantation surgeries are not proceeding at the desired levels, it is not the funds, infrastructure or expertise that are lacking, but organs.
From what young Stanley George did through his death about a month ago, our society has a lot to learn. He is the youngest deceased organ donor in Kerala. The organ donation process was mediated through the Society for Organ donation and Transplantation (SORT).
The 16 year old boy given a new lease of life to Ravindran, 45,suffering from end-stage liver disease, Honey Prabhakar, 22, and Indhu, 42, suffering from end-stage renal disease and eyes were donated to the Little Flower hospital, Angamaly.
